UK Launch of hardcopy ‘Gay in the 80s’ book
I’m pleased to announce that the hard copy of my book Gay in the 80s: From Fighting for Our Rights to Fighting for Our Lives is being launched in the UK this month (February) for LGBT History Month.
Launch events are currently planned for Cambridge, Nottingham and Leicester, with a fourth in planning in London. See my ‘Talks’ page for details.
The book offers an in-depth look at some of the issues that I have written about in this blog. Topics include the politics of the scene, film, television, queer rights in mainstream politics and HIV/AIDS. A detailed list of contents is available here.
I’m very proud and honoured that the cover and interior design was done by Kevin Franklin. Kevin is better known for producing the iconic ‘Pits and Perverts’ poster and T-shirt for Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners in 1984.
It should be available in all UK bookshops. If your local bookshop doesn’t have it in stock they can order it in. Stockists currently include Heffers in Cambridge, Five Leaves in Nottingham and Gay’s the Word and Housmans in London.
I am exploring distribution options outside the UK. Any ideas or other input on this would be most welcome.
