1985. Music: Dionne Warwick and Friends. That’s What Friends Are For.
Dionne Warwick has been a long-time supporter of HIV/AIDS causes so it came as little surprise when she got Stevie Wonder, Elton John and Gladys Knight to join her in singing That’s What Friends Are For. Released in 1985 it raised more than $3 million for the American Foundation for AIDS Research (AmFAR).
Sadly, fate has not been as generous to Dionne Warwick as she has to HIV/AIDS causes. In March 2013 she filed for bankruptcy, allegedly owing $10 million in taxes.
