This track has been called “a strong feminist anthem”, “a feminist classic of the era” and “an anthem of female solidarity”.

Interestingly, it was written by a male songwriter for a male singer. Cyndi Lauper asked if she could change a couple of the lyrics and the rest, as they say, is history!
